Dried fruit is a fruit that has had almost all of the water content removed through drying methods. The fruit shrinks during this process, leaving a small, energy-dense dried fruit that can be preserved for much longer than fresh fruit and can be a handy snack, particularly on long trips where refrigeration is not available.

Dried fruits also contain more fiber and more antioxidants called phenols than fresh fruit, per ounce. Fiber fights heart disease, obesity, regulates bowel movements, helps in digestive health, and cures some types of cancer.

People with diets rich in plant phenols have lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, several kinds of cancer, and possibly degenerative brain diseases. They are laxative in nature and helps in fighting diseases.
